About the Author



Millions have seen Kenneth Alcorn perform as a mime, an actor, a singer and a musician over the years. He attended Mercer County Community College, The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York and is a 1979 graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts with a BFA in Drama. He studied acting with Robert Murray, Rosemary Harris, Tunc Yalman, Martin Rader, Virginia North, Malcolm Morrison, Tony Walsh, James Dodson and Leslie Hunt. He studied dance with Mollie Murray. He studied mime with James Donlon, Bob Francesconi, Claude Kipnis, Rudy Benda, and Marcel Marceau. Ken studied piano with Norm Snell, tuba with Milton Richey and Voice with Delores Simonel.

Ken started out as a cocktail pianist in restaurants, has performed in over seventy five plays and musicals, commercials, cabarets and revues. He has taught mime and acting, given master classes and residency programs at colleges and universities, invited as guest director for numerous theatrical productions, has been and is an adjudicator in Virginia and Georgia for high school one-act play competitions, served on advisory boards, served as a deacon and has been a business owner. Most recently, Ken appeared five nights a week at The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island Florida for an eight month engagement.

Ken and his wife Beth are the parents of four young adults, James, Jeremy, Joshua, and Jenna. While Beth carried on with her medical practice, Ken wrote music, a book, newspaper articles, run business, performed, and brought smiles to faces, young and old.
